Inverter Technology

Air conditioners with inverter (variable speed) technology use much less energy than other models, about 30% when compared to non-inverter models.

How does it save energy? The compressor adjusts up and down with the temperature of the room, rather than completely stopping and starting up again. Though it may not seem like it, avoiding this massive stop/start process saves a LOT.

Many AC models, including a majority of mini-split systems, already come with built-in inverter technology. However, any cooling system over 10 years old could be a dated non-inverter system, especially central AC in homes built before 1980.
